Dead Tech 2000
A mixed media installation, Dead Tech: Relics from the Late Great Age of Empire, visually staged the left-over remains of high-technology as center pieces of a new high-tech folk art. An oversized lightbox (4 ft x 8 ft) presented a frankensteinian figure comprised of x-rays of the body parts of different people. Surrounding the x-ray figure was a series of 20 reliquaries comprised of wire embroidered circuit boards, spent international telephone calling cards, telephone parts, and dead diodes. Created in collaboration with Anne Balsamo, this piece was installed at SOMARTS in San Francisco.
