Therapis Violentis is a live-time VJ mix presented in colaboration with Guillermo Gomez-Peña in the performance Mapa Corpo. Therapis Violentis creates a live video mix from found footage of contemporary films, documentaries, and still photography to explore the collision between bodies of color, medical technologies, airport surveillance, terrorism and looks at how medical technologies have merged into a tool of the neo-surveillance state. Tools of medicine such as x-ray technology previously scanned for biological abnormalities but are now searching for signs of a new ideological virus commonly referred to as “terrorism”. This virus manifests itself through the appearance of firearms, weapons of mass destruction, sharp implements and explosives.
